It depends. A good rule of thumb is: are users coming specifically \/ only because of the content behind the tabs? If so, you probably want to make the content more accessible \/ visible by default. If the content in the tabs is just “bonus information,” (say if you have a product page with the general information visible, but some technical details in a tab) then that’s fine.<\/p>\n

Another good way to think of it from our side is, if a user searches for something, sees information about it in a snippet, clicks through to your page where that information is behind a tab, will they find the information that they wanted immediately? Or would they feel misled about the snippet & ranking? Would they feel that we provided them with a bad search result?
